IT TAKES TWO TO TALK®
THE HANEN PROGRAM®

Are you concerned that your child isn't talking as much as other children their age?

Do you find yourself wondering:

  • "How can I help my child communicate more?"

  • "What should I be doing at home?"

  • "Why isn't my child talking yet?"

  • "Am I doing enough to support their language development?"

The Hanen It Takes Two to Talk® Program is a research-based parent coaching program designed specifically for parents of young children (ages 12 months to 4 years old) with language delays.

Rather than focusing only on what happens during a therapy session, this program teaches parents how to support communication throughout everyday routines, play, meals, book reading, and family interactions. Because you spend the most time with your child, small changes in your daily interactions can create hundreds of additional opportunities for communication growth.

Who Is This Program For?

This program may be a good fit if your child:

  • Is between 12 months and 4 years old

  • Understands more than they can say

  • Uses fewer words than expected for their age

  • Has difficulty combining words into phrases or sentences (ages 2+)

  • Primarily communicates through gestures, pointing, sounds, or leading adults

  • Has a diagnosed language delay or is suspected of having one

  • Would benefit from increased communication opportunities throughout daily routines

This program may NOT be the best fit if:

You are looking for direct one-on-one speech therapy services only

You are unable to attend the majority of sessions

You are not able to actively participate in home practice activities between sessions

Your primary goal is articulation or speech sound production (difficulty pronouncing sounds)

Your child has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) - More Than Words® - The Hanen Program® will be offered in the future which is specifically designed for parents of children with ASD
